Caherdaniel to Sneem, about 12 miles.
Had a great evening last night in the Blind Piper Pub, the only place in town for food and very slow wifi.
This morning after a rough night as the beds were tough to sleep in,we headed out in the rain for a long boggy climb and descent through the mountains. It was chilly but the wind had died down, and the rain was a steady drizzle most of the day.

I put my rain cover on my bag, but when it rains like this, the water gets in everywhere.

making a wish

We steadily made our way through the farm lands and over the crest of the hill and through the village of Kilcrobane. Dropping into the valley the rain let up for awhile as we worked our way towards Sneem. After crossing the rivers  Lenmare, and later the river Coomcallee, we headed back into the mountains and a couple of steep, wet, slippery climbs of bog and wet rocks. I think Caroline gave up on counting the stiles after we climbed at about 32.

This is a bit of a roller coaster type of day.
Yup, and they have Palm Trees here despite the weather

We eventually hit the highway( if you can call it that) the N70, and stopped for a break and a sandwich we had made beforehand. This was where we intersected the riders taking part in the " ride the ring" charity ride. There seemed to be an endless stream of them, turns out they cut off registration at 10,000

That was fun as we cheered them, and they cheered us, with comments like " get a bike"

From here it was another 2 hours and we came into Sneem, a place I had been, and Caroline, 21 years ago. It's a fun village and all the buildings are painted different colors.

Found the BandB and then headed into town to join in the cycling festivities, the pubs were full of riders who were having a very good time, hope some made it to the end of the ride.
After walking the town and a few hot whiskeys, we had dinner, I found insect repellant that MIGHT keep the midgies at bay, and we are in bed at 8.15 .

The hike today was tough and wet, but we came in at 5 hours not feeling too bad.

Tomorrow is a long one , if it's raining, we may send the bags off by taxi.
Seems hard to believe, but only one  more day after tomorrow, and the 250 miles is done. Just feel like I'm really getting into it physically, my minds been present for awhile during the walk, and loved every peaceful minute of it.
